Only managed nine fannish works this year, not all of them even Sherlock-related. In chronological order:

1. Sherlock: Special Wedding Edition (vid, Sherlock/John)

Easily the most "popular" thing I did this year, with 55K+ hits, which is nice, although probably a lot of people on Youtube were looking for Sherlock's *actual* wedding speech and were horribly disappointed *g*.  Relatively easy to put together, since I swear the episode was basically shot to enable such a vid - it wasn't even a dare so much as an engraved invitation. Appeared to mostly make people happy, but attracted a few scornful anti-shipping comments as well, which is unsurprising.

One last burst of crazy before I get back to reality. Pirates! is brilliant, by the way (and I'm not a fan of pirate movies in general). I only saw it on DVD, but nevertheless enjoyed it more than Monsters University and far, far more than Despicable Me 2, which I could have walked out in the middle of and not felt bad about it at all. Even if you have zero interest in the vid, I'd love to hear what you thought about MU/DM2 :)

Notes: After a week of struggling to write some nice, fluffy Johnlock, this just... happened. I think it was my brain rebelling, although if it's any consolation it's still vaguely shippy. The song has been heavily butchered edited/rearranged, so don't expect the radio version.

Summary: Sherlock is a serial killer; John learns to cope.

It's 3 a.m. in the morning/put my key in the door and/ bodies laying all over the floor and/ I don't remember how they got there/ but I guess I must have killed them - killed them.

Yes, I saw this bloody movie months ago now, but it refused to go away unless I vidded it. However, it took forever to find something that worked for me - I still have slight reservations about the song, but on the whole I'm pleased with it. And at least I think I can finally move on *g*

Movie summary: A group of friends take their terminally ill mate on a last-hurrah road trip to his favourite place in the world: Barafundle Bay, Wales.
Notes: Third Star fanvid focusing on the relationship between Miles (JJ Feild) and James (Benedict Cumberbatch). Possibly more friendship than slash, but open to interpretation. If you wanted the actual slash, that would be here.

Technical notes: This is the first time I've ever ripped from source, and I loved the clarity of the results. Even if it all ended up compressed anyway. I also tried out a few effects for the first time, but none of them are particularly noticeable. With the flashier ones I tried I just ended up putting them in and then taking them straight back out again. It just doesn't seem to be the way I vid, although one day I do want to attempt one of those dramatically effect-laden things just to see if it's possible. Also, I discovered belatedly that Glass Pear are in fact Welsh, which pleases me (unreasonably) no end.

I came up with and rejected about a dozen titles for this vid: Ouroboros (classy, no?), Sons of the Father, Like Father, Like Son, Daddy Dearest, Of House and Holmes, A House is not a Holmes, There's No Place Like Holmes and others just as patently dreadful. For obvious reasons, I eventually gave up and went back to basics.

Summary: In the beginning, there was Sherlock Holmes. And Holmes brought forth the brilliant doctor House, embodied by the lovely Hugh Laurie. Who prior to that in Fortysomething played a slightly less brilliant doctor, Paul Slippery, who begat three sons, the eldest of whom was played by the equally-lovely-if-somewhat-peculiarly-named Benedict Cumberbatch. Who of course grew up to play Sherlock. And the Universe looked upon its work and pronounced it good. And then my head exploded. (Thanks so very much, karaokegal *g*)

Notes: My first multifandom vid. I actually started this before news of House's cancellation broke, but in a way it seems a fitting tribute to two - really three, if you include the original canon - of my most influential fandoms, past, present and future. I love Sherlock for many of the same reasons I love House, so the father and son connection was irresistible. And in some sheltered corner of my brain, entirely divorced from reality, I almost... kind of... believe it *g*

So Sherlock managed to sucker me back into vidding - the last vid I made was five years ago. Five. And I do remember why, now - it took me just over three days to go from "whee!clipping!fun!" to "this is quite possibly the stupidest, most maddening hobby known to mankind". And yet here I am *g*
